Meet Karen
Karen Simon is a visionary artist and designer whose work transcends traditional boundaries, spanning across multiple mediums. Born with a natural inclination towards creativity, she finds beauty in the juxtaposition of organic and industrial elements. Throughout her career, Karen has continually evolved, embracing new techniques and technologies to push the boundaries of her art. Her early sculptural works focused on wood. As her artistic vision expanded, she began incorporating metal into her pieces, creating striking contrasts between the warmth of wood and the cool, reflective nature of metal. This combination added a new dimension to her work, allowing her to explore themes of duality and balance.
In her most recent works, she has explored the transformative potential of light. By incorporating LED technology, she has brought her sculptures to life. The interplay of light and shadow adds a temporal element to her work, making each piece a constantly evolving entity.
Karen has produced site specific installations for Ellis Island, The Japanese American National Museum, and Union Station-Washington D.C. Her work is included in the permanent collection of The Smithsonian National Museum of American History, The Library of Congress and the 9/11 Memorial and Museum.
